Western College announced as training award finalist

Size matters at Dubbo’s Western College, which has again been awarded a finalist berth in this year’s NSW State Training Awards.

As winner of the NSW Small Training Provider of the Year award for 2010,the community based, not-for-profit College is proud to again be acknowledged as a state-wide leader in training service provision.

Western College prides itself on being small enough to provide relevant and flexible education options for the community, but big enough to ensure choice and quality training services for students and the business community.

CEO Ron Maxwell said he was delighted that Western College has again been named as a finalist in the prestigious awards.

“This is a fantastic acknowledgement for the work our trainers and staff do to ensure the highest possible standard of training and educational options for the community we serve,” Mr Maxwell said.

“It was great for a regionally-based college to win over some of the most highly resourced metropolitan colleges in the state, as we did last year, and to be announced as a finalist again the following year is a huge achievement.”

The award’s judging panel visited Western College last month, spending most of the day inspecting and assessing the college’s programs and system and interviewing both staff and students.

The panel was impressed both with the breadth of services offered by Western College and with the quality of the newly refurbished, environmentally friendly facilities.
The winners of the State Training Awards will be announced at a gala event at Darling Harbour in September.
