Emily Falson

Position: Training Manager

Emily’s passion for quality education and training has seen her work with the Salvation Army Youthlink in Sydney to delivery hospitality and life skills programmes to at risk youths; consult to ‘hatted’ restaurants in Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney; work closely with and develop job search techniques for new migrants to Sydney, and design the curriculum, operational and assessment systems for Sydney’s’ busiest purpose built coffee training centre.

When planning her ‘tree change’, Emily was thrilled to find a college who shares the same values as hers when it comes to the inspirational and flexible nature of programme delivery, participation, access and a ‘fair-go’ policy for all approach. She just had to work there!

Qualifications: B. Sci B.Arts Hons, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA)

 

Carmel Fairall

Position:  Program Coordinator

Carmel is a born-and-bred local, having grown up in Nyngan.  A qualified chef who has spent a number of years in the hospitality industry, Carmel made the career change to education and training in 2008 and hasn’t looked back.

As Program Co-ordinator, it’s Carmel’s job to organise all courses and trainers for Western College’s Personal Interest Course and Professional Course guides, as well as overseeing the co-ordination of tailored training programs.

It is part Carmel’s position to assist the community by providing a range of different courses according to community / student demands – a role she finds thoroughly satisfying: “It is so pleasing to see people gain so much personal development and satisfaction from our courses, whether through our lifestyle programs or employment-related programs.”

As well as her professional qualifications as a chef, Carmel holds a Certificate IV in Business and has recently completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Carmel was named winner of Employee of the Year at the 2009 Rhino Outstanding Business Awards.

Zane Rezveska

Position: Training Coordinator

Born in Latvia – a beautiful country in Eastern Europe near the Baltic Sea – Zane has been with Western College since early in 2011, when she took up the position of Training Administrator. Prior to immigrating to Australia, Zane followed a career in office management and marketing with multinational pharmaceuticals corporation Pfizer.  Zane’s is a very important role within the college, as she is responsible for the Language, Literacy and Numeracy Program (LLNP).

I enjoy the positive atmosphere that Western College provides to students and staff,” says Zane, who holds a Bachelor of Theology and Religion Sciences as well as a Certificate III in Business and a Certificate IV in Business.

OHS Construction / Induction (White Card) - 24 February

This course covers the requirements of the construction industry regulations.  Participants can receive 24 CPD points on successful completion of the course.  This is also essential training for anyone seeking employment on construction sites as it assists employees to understand legislation and work with employers to meet the obligations of fostering a safer workplace.

Successful completion will lead to a Statement of Attainment for 1 unit from CPC10108 Certificate I in Construction, CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry.

Friday 24 February (1 session)

9:00am – 4:00pm,   $145 (includes catering)

First Aid Refresher - in conjunction with Australian Red Cross- 25 February

In conjunction with Australian Red Cross

This course allows the first aider to update the knowledge and skills gained (within the previous 3 years) and revise first aid procedures. Participants will be updated on changes since their previous Workplace II or Senior First Aid Course. A current first aid certificate is a prerequisite.

Successful completion will lead to a Statement of Attainment for the nationally endorsed unit of competency HLTFA301B Apply first aid from the HLT Health Training Package.

This course teaches the fundamental principles, knowledge and skills to enable the first aider to provide emergency care for injuries and illnesses in the home or the workplace.

Successful completion will result in the issue of a Statement of Attainment for the nationally endorsed unit of competency HLTFA301B Apply First Aid from the HLT Health Training Package.
